Continued from homepage… Over the ensuing six-year period in which my two children attended OCC, I came to learn how truly wonderful of place it was. In particular, the teachers were loving, patient and kind and they managed to slip in a bit of learning into a day filled with play and wonder. The class sizes were small, giving teachers the ability to give more attention to each child. The classrooms were always clean, engaging and playful. The executive director is down to earth. She has a great rapport with the parents, teachers and children.
In addition to my role as a parent at the Center, I had the pleasure of serving on the parent-run Board of Directors for two years and got a behind-the-scene look at how the Center operates. During my tenure, the board conducted a parent-satisfaction survey that revealed what I had already known, parents and children are truly happy at OCC. I would highly recommend Our Children’s Center. You will see nothing but smiles on your child’s face; you couldn’t ask for more!
Our daughter spent four years at OCC. We looked around at other centers but stayed with OCC because of the quality of the teachers and the low teacher turnover which gave my daughter the stability she needed. This year, the State adopted new curriculum guidelines which significantly increase the amount of academics introduced to Kindergarteners. My daughter was well prepared for the increased workload in Kindergarten thanks to her OCC experience.
Our son went through OCC and is now in second grade and our daughter is currently in preschool. Our son received such a wonderful foundation and was very prepared for Kindergarten. We know that our daughter is getting the same great education. One of the things we love about OCC is not only the great education they receive, but because it is a small center they are genuinely loved and cared for by all the teachers from the infant room through preschool. We feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful center.
Before I returned to work full-time, I visited many centers, but fell in love with OCC because I could tell an immediate difference in the Director, Barbara. It was easy to talk to her and ask a lot of questions. When I scheduled a second visit with my husband, Barbara had already set-up the room with our daughter’s name on bins and her daily sheet was hanging on the board. The teachers knew our names and were aware of the questions I had asked before. Everyone was organized, calm and sincere… which is what I was seeking during a time when I was so unsure of what I was doing.
